Abstract

The contemporary global economic system is increasingly shaped by geopolitical conflicts that extend beyond traditional military dimensions and influence energy markets, international trade, financial stability, environmental sustainability, and global security structures. The escalation of tensions involving Iran, Israel, the United States and Middle Eastern countries, combined with the continuing Russia–Ukraine war and intensifying strategic competition between the United States and China, represents a complex geopolitical environment with significant economic consequences. This research paper examines the multidimensional impact of these conflicts on the global economy, focusing particularly on energy security, inflation, international trade, stock market performance, environmental degradation, nuclear risks and the economic resilience of emerging economies. The study provides a comparative analysis of major global economies including the United States, European Union, China, Russia, Japan, South Korea and India. The research identifies energy disruption as the primary transmission mechanism through which geopolitical conflicts influence the global economy. The Strait of Hormuz, Black Sea trade routes and Taiwan Strait represent critical geopolitical chokepoints capable of affecting global supply chains. The study also evaluates how conflicts influence commodity prices, currency movements, interest rate decisions, investor behaviour and economic growth prospects. Special attention is given to India because of its dependence on imported crude oil, vulnerability to inflationary pressures and strategic importance in global supply-chain diversification. The research analyses India's policy responses including energy diversification, strategic petroleum reserves, monetary policy management, foreign exchange reserves and renewable energy expansion. The paper argues that modern geopolitical conflicts create interconnected risks involving economic instability, climate challenges and nuclear insecurity. While countries have developed resilience mechanisms, prolonged conflicts could generate stagflation, financial instability and structural changes in global economic relationships.
