How the board handles a paper
- Submission matchedA new manuscript is screened for scope, format and similarity, then matched to board members and reviewers working in its own discipline.
- Double-blind reviewReviewers assess originality, method, results and clarity without seeing the authors’ names, and the authors never see theirs.
- Decision and recordThe editor decides on the reports. Under transparent peer review the record can be published with the paper, and reviewers receive a certificate.
Two roles, one register
Editorial board member
- Oversees a subject area and advises on scope, policy and special issues.
- Recommends reviewers for a paper and resolves split reports.
- Listed on the official board roster with institution, qualification and subject.
Reviewer panel member
- Reviews manuscripts only in the subject declared at registration.
- Writes the comments the author receives with the editorial decision.
- Earns a Transparent Peer Review certificate for each completed review.
