Put JMVRA’s Credentials to Work — PhD, Promotion & Research Records
Which approval answers which question, and which document to attach — so the committee reading your file can confirm each one in a click. Journal of Modern and Versatile Research Approach, ISSN 2984-8911.
Where Your Paper Stands After UGC CARE
For years, Indian committees asked one question: is the journal on the UGC list? Those numbered UGC-Approved entries belonged to the pre-2019 list; JMVRA was founded in June 2023, after that list had closed, so it has no UGC journal number and none should be quoted. UGC had by then moved to the CARE reference list, and on 3 October 2024 decided to discontinue that list too. In its place UGC issued suggestive parameters — 36 of them in 8 groups — that institutions and researchers use to judge a peer-reviewed journal themselves.
So the question your file must now answer is different: does the journal show the evidence? The sections below map each question a panel is likely to ask to the credential that answers it and the document that proves it.
JMVRA is a Transparent, Peer-Reviewed, Open Access Journal (Refereed Journal). Following the discontinuation of the UGC and UGC-CARE journal listing, and in alignment with the latest UGC-CARE recommendations and guidelines, JMVRA is aligned with UGC's Suggested Parameters for Choosing Peer-Reviewed Journals. — The journal’s statement on UGC and UGC-CARE
From the Numbered UGC List to the Suggested Parameters
The dates a committee may ask about, in order. The numbered UGC list closed before JMVRA began; the test that applies today is the Suggested Parameters.
- UGC-Approved List of JournalsUGC publishes a numbered list; each journal on it carries a UGC journal number.
- Re-evaluation of the listUGC reviews the list and removes titles that scored low. Numbers from that list belong only to those journals.
- UGC-CARE List replaces itThe CARE reference list supersedes the earlier approved list; no new UGC journal numbers are issued.
- JMVRA is foundedEstablished after the numbered list had closed, so the journal has no UGC journal number to quote.
- CARE List discontinuedUGC's 584th meeting withdraws the CARE list. No replacement list is created.
- Suggested Parameters approvedEight categories of suggestive parameters (public notice 16 July 2025). JMVRA is aligned with UGC's Suggested Parameters for Choosing Peer-Reviewed Journals.
Which Credential Answers Which Question
Seven questions a review panel commonly asks, the credential that answers each, and what to attach.
| The panel asks | Credential | What to attach |
|---|---|---|
| Is the journal properly registered? | ISSN 2984-8911 | The ISSN Portal record (opens in a new tab) — title and ISSN must match. |
| Does it have a UGC journal number? | No — numbers belonged to the pre-2019 approved list; JMVRA was founded in June 2023 | A short note that the numbered list closed before the journal began, with the UGC Regulations 2018 (opens in a new tab) on refereed journals. |
| Does it meet UGC’s current guidance? | Aligned with UGC’s Suggested Parameters | The UGC public notice (opens in a new tab) and the journal’s parameter-by-parameter status. |
| Was the paper peer reviewed? | Transparent, double-blind peer review | The journal’s transparent peer review policy and certificate; for your own paper, the optional reviewer report. |
| Where can the paper be found permanently? | Crossref DOI (on request) | Your article’s DOI link at doi.org (Crossref prefix 10.56975, e.g. 10.56975/…), which opens the article page. |
| Was the paper actually published? | Certificate of publication | The e-certificate and confirmation letter, plus the article link in the journal archive. |
| What is the journal’s citation impact? | Impact Factor 11.25 (calculated from Google Scholar and Semantic Scholar citations; not a Clarivate JCR figure) | The calculation method and the Google Scholar profile (opens in a new tab). |
Where to Look the Journal Up
A reviewer of your file can open each of these in a click. Give the link, not a screenshot.
- Crossref Search (opens in a new tab)Search resultsCrossref works matching the journal name — a discovery link.
- Google Scholar (opens in a new tab)Journal profileThe journal's Google Scholar profile and its listed papers.
- Academia (opens in a new tab)Journal profileThe journal's Academia.edu profile with shared papers.
- Scholar9 (opens in a new tab)Journal listingJournal page on the transparent peer-review registry.
- ORWave (opens in a new tab)Journal listingThe journal's listing on the Open Research Wave platform.
- OpenAlex (opens in a new tab)Search resultsOpenAlex works search for the journal — a discovery link.
- Google Search (opens in a new tab)Search resultsA web search for the journal's full name — a discovery link.
Discovery links, not indexing claims. Crossref Search, OpenAlex and Google Search open search results; they show what those services find, not that the journal is indexed there or holds a DOI prefix. The profile and listing links open the journal's own records.
Build Your Submission File in Five Steps
The same order works for a PhD pre-submission check, a promotion dossier or a funding report.
Read your institution’s current rule
Universities, research committees and funders each set their own publication requirements, and many have revised them since UGC ended the CARE list. Start from the exact wording your institution uses.
Collect the journal-level evidence
ISSN 2984-8911 record from the ISSN Portal, the UGC public notice, the journal’s statement on UGC’s Suggested Parameters with its parameter-by-parameter status, and its peer-review certificate. All are linked on this page.
Add the paper-level evidence
The published article link, your e-certificate and confirmation letter, and the DOI if you requested one. Every author named on the paper receives a certificate.
Add optional records if your panel asks
A Crossref DOI, printed copies, or a reviewer report for your paper — each requested separately after acceptance.
Keep it checkable
Give links that open at the source — the ISSN Portal, doi.org, the UGC website — rather than screenshots or logos. A reviewer of your file can confirm each one in a click.
Your File, Ticked Off
Eight items that cover a PhD pre-submission check, a promotion dossier or a funding report.
- ISSN 2984-8911 record from the ISSN Portal (title and ISSN match the journal)
- UGC public notice of 3 October 2024 and the journal's statement on UGC's Suggested Parameters
- The journal's parameter-by-parameter status page
- Transparent peer-review policy, and the review certificate where asked
- Link to your published article in the journal archive
- E-certificate of publication and the confirmation letter
- DOI link at doi.org, if you requested a Crossref DOI
- Impact Factor described as a calculated metric, not a Clarivate JIF

What These Credentials Do Not Mean
Stating a credential precisely protects your file. These are the common overstatements to avoid.
