<dc:description>This paper presents a descriptive analysis of the skills parents expect from professional home tutors when their children face specific learning difficulties. The data were collected from parents in Dattawadi, Swargate, Koregaon, Baner, and Wagholi in Pune, India, and the analysis rests on a single cross-tabulation of four student issues against fifteen tutor-skill descriptors, covering 219 parents who answered both questions. The four issues are absence of a regular study rhythm (n = 120), being stuck on doubts or concepts (n = 93), not knowing how to study (n = 82), and difficulty keeping a child engaged for one hour among working parents (n = 39). Because these subgroup sizes sum to more than 219, parents could report more than one issue. In every group the highest percentages attach to three skills: dedicated and professional tutor (62–71%), qualified and capable (63–74%), and effective and engaging (58–62%). Specialised labels such as proficient and adept (23–33%) or seasoned instructor (27–31%) receive substantially lower percentages. Rankings shift modestly by issue, but the prominence of the three core skills is stable. The analysis is descriptive; no causal inference or test of differences between issues is possible from the summary percentages alone.</dc:description>
